They may look different on the surface, but the world's varying faiths actually have much in common.

"There is the whole belief in respect for a supreme being and being able to pray to that supreme being and a belief in justice and a belief in non-violence and a belief in human dignity -- I mean, the list goes on," said Moses Kanhai, president of the Regina Multifaith Forum. "There's so many, many ways more than we even realize that we have in common, and what we really need to do is to focus on what we have in common as opposed to how we're different."

Kanhai's statement forms the backdrop for an event organized each year by the forum in honour of World Religion Day.

Hosted by the Beth Jacob Synagogue at the Pearl and Max B. Herman Centre, the Sunday event brought together a dozen different faiths to share their own unique prayers with others.
