Description

The World Religion Day Celebration will take place on Sunday, January 18, 2009, from 1:30 to 3:30 PM, at the City Auditorium with 500 seats.  The event is co-sponsored by the Baha'i Community of Pembroke Pines, United Nations Chapter of Broward County, the Southwest Regional Library in Pembroke Pines , and the city of Pembroke Pines .

Three of the City Commissioners will attend this event, where one of them will welcome the audience and read the Proclamation. The vice president of the United Nations Associations of the State of Florida has been invited for this Celebration.

Although it is not a long program, this will be a very diverse, dynamic, beautiful, educational, and enjoyable event. Performing that day will be children/youth of Native American, Hindu, Jewish, Zoroastrian, Chinese Buddhist, Vietnamese Buddhist, Jain, Protestant, Catholic, Muslim, Sikh, and Baha'i. We have announced that this program is to recognize and applaud some of those who work hard for the character development of children and youth.  We appreciate and encourage all the children and youth who are willing to learn these lessons for life.

We have emphasized that it is great for the children and youth of different cultures, religions and races to see themselves on the same stage as others, before this large and diverse audience. We have asked all those in charge of the groups to present the fruits of their character development program the best they can. As a result, our program is mostly musical, some special dances, poetry, songs and reciting, all by the youth and/or children.  Every group has between 5 to 7 minutes.

A news anchor for the local ABC station is the MC at this event. We have a professional Stage Manager to make sure the program will run smoothly. We have the best Baha'i photographer, Bill Keefrey, who will take many perfect pictures, and the best Baha'i Video person, Amin Jalali, who will video the whole program. (In the past we have been asked to sale the videos, but we have not done so.) The four Baha'i Ushers heading by a Police Officer.  Our beautiful flyer was made by a web designer. We will use the same design to make a framed souvenir for each group with their name on it. ABC local news has been announcing this event for the last 3 weeks. The ABC and CBS local news are attending this Celebration. The NBC and another local news station have asked for the event information. The religion editor of the largest local paper, Sun-Sentinel, is attending himself. He is announcing the event in the paper on Saturday, January 17, 2009. The second largest paper, Herald, is attending also. The editor of Westside Gazette said they cannot send a reporter. But asked me to write about the celebration and send it along with some pictures for the paper.  Since Seminal Indian's are in the program, we were told they are doing publicity through their own media.

What a wonderful way to be filled with the spirit of our only Creator, to watch the march of   progressive revelation, and to recognize His great teachings and wisdom of Unity in Diversity. This program is open to the public free of charge.

Display: Using large beautiful posters on Oneness and Unity, along with some writings and pictures have made a beautiful display for the Faith at the library.
